It's easy to get overwhelmed with wedding planning, so we've decided to break-down the basic anatomy of the wedding invitation suite for you! A wedding invitation suite typically includes a set of coordinated stationery items that are sent to guests to provide all the necessary information about the wedding. For starters - a wedding invitation suite consists of all paper goods sent along with the wedding invitation. It should always include a response card, as well as important information like directions and accommodations.
This goes without saying, but you'll need an envelope to send off all the paper goods. The outer envelope includes the recipient's names and address on the front and postage stamps on the upper right-hand corner. We print the return address on the back flap of the envelope and offer guest address printing in-house. If you choose to go the more traditional route, you may also want to include an inner envelope. The inner envelope should include the title and last name of the invitees.
Sending out an invitation in two envelopes (Outer and Inner) ensures that each guest will receive a pristine envelope, even if the outer one has been torn or soiled in the mail. Still, the two are not necessary; you may omit the inner envelope if you wish. The outer envelope includes all of the information the postal service needs for delivery. The inner envelope should have the names of the invited guests in the household (including children, whose names do not appear on the outer envelope).
his is the main component and includes details such as the names of the couple, the date, time, and location of the wedding ceremony. It may also mention the reception details and attire request.
One of the purposes of your invitation is to find out who will be attending. Traditionally, guests are sent a response or RSVP card that they can mark (accept or decline) to let you know if they will be coming to your wedding. You can also ask invitees whether they're bringing a guest and what their entree choice will be for dinner.
Some couples opt for a digital RSVP, so you may want to think about whether you want to manage a digital guest list or if you prefer getting lots of cards in the mail. If you choose to do a mail-in reply please be advised it is customary to include a self-addressed stamped envelope with the response card.
Envelope liners are a great way to add color to your suite without additional printing. Solid liners, patterned or custom drawings are all available.
A belly band is a strip of paper, ribbon or fabric that you can use to keep your invitation and all of your enclosures together inside your envelope. Belly bands can be customized with your names or a monogram and a colored paper mount or wax seal.
Your invitation suite can contain several enclosures (additional cards). Additional cards can be used to note the location of the wedding (in the form of a map), weekend events, rehearsal dinner information, transportation options, attire, accommodations, or the itinerary.
You will need appropriate postage for your outer envelope. Please refer to our FAQs to learn more about postage and hand-canceling.
